ornithologist's paradise. Egrets, darters, herons, teal, waterfowl, cuckoo,
wild duck and migratory birds like the Siberian stork that live in flocks,
in Kumarakom, are a fascination for visitors.
Palakkad - is the gateway to Kerala from the
north. Palakkad derives its name from the Malayalam words Pala (the Alsteria
Scholaris tree) and Kadu (forest), which goes to prove that this place was
once a beautiful stretch of forests covered with the sweet-scented flowers
of the Pala tree. Kozhikode - is situated on the southwest coast of the
Arabian Sea. Basking in the idyllic setting of the serene Arabian Sea on
the west and mesmeric peaks of the Wayanad Hills on the east, this place
has all the required ingredients to fascinate on holidays in Kerala.
Munnar - is a small hill station set amongst
the Kannan Devan Hills. One of the most popular hill resorts of India, Munnar
is adorned with lush green surroundings, lakes, reservoirs, forests, and

Onam
is the most famous festival of Kerala. All Malayali's irrespective of religion
celebrates it. It falls in the Malayalam month of Chingam (Aug-Sept). It
is the harvest festival of Kerala. Legend states that Onam is celebrated
as the home coming of Mahabali, the king who ruled over Kerala in the age
of plenty and was pushed down to the infernal regions (Patala) by Lord Vishnu
in the form of Vamana.Onam is celebrated as a national festival of Kerala.
Vallamkali or Boat Races-This is a typical
keralite festival of boat races.
Asthami Rohini:-The birthday of Lord Krishna
is celebrated with great importance on this day. It is held in the month
of Chingam (Aug- Sept). Devotees visit the Krishna temples where special
Pooja and cultural programmes are held.
Thrikarthiaka
This festival is celebrated
in the month of Vrischikam (Nov -Dec). Display of light in the evening is a unique
part of the festival.
Thiruvathira
Thiruvathira falls on the month of
Dhanu (December-January) and is a women's festival. It commemorates the death
of Kamadeva, the cupid of Hindu mythology. The dance form Thiruvathirkkali is
associated with this celebration

Christmas - All Christians celebrate Christmas
as the birthday of Jesus Christ on 25th Dec. Holy Mass is held in all the
churches in the state.
Easter - This is another important festival
of Christians, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter
usually falls in March-April, after 40 days lent of fast and penance. Christians
go for mid-night mass, as a memory of the resurrection of Jesus, 2000 years
ago.
Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word, derived from
two roots: Ayur, which means life, and Veda, means knowledge. Knowledge
arranged systematically with logic becomes science, Ayurveda medical system,
which was evolved in India, is around the 5,000 year old. According to Ayurvedic
philosophy the entire cosmos is interplay of the energies of the five great
elements Space, Air, Fire, Water and Earth.Kerala's equable climate, natural
abundance of forests (with a wealth of herbs and medicinal plants) and the
cool monsoon season (Jun - Nov) are the best suited for Ayurveda's curative
